ABOUT

Design Yr Signs started around 2005.

Whilst a Storeman for the RTA I acquired an old cutter machine, this machine would only cut material. It was that old I had to read the manual on how to operate it. Once people knew I had it they asked for numbers to go on their mail boxes and rego numbers for boats.

So I purchased my first cutter from QLD (Sign Essentials), it would cut only and was the beginning, starting in the back shed. Since then I bought a digital printer and cutter as I had created a customer list that wanted digital prints and the Roland SP300 did the trick. From there my customers wanted larger signs so I purchased the VS640 and a Lamidesk laminating table, this enabled me to print large prints, laminated them without assistance then put on substrate also without assistance. From there the list goes on and on with purchases, such as Guillotine, corner cutter, benches, computers, ipads, heat press, drone, and being so isolated I must have stock, and 1 roll of printable and laminate is around $1000.00, you need a few of those as it may take a week to get another, not forgetting coloured material, black & white are the main ones but you must stock at least 6 other colours. Also reflective material is something that you must have in stock and bang that will cost $4000.00. This is my challenge I have set for myself and so far so good. It is very pleasing to see the smile of someone’s face when they receive exactly what they asked for. I can still remember the day the SP300 was dropped off and the installation technician said “What are you using,  CORELDraw to operate this machine” and I said “COREL who”, I had never heard of CORELDraw, BUT do I now.

The machine that I used at the now Transport NSW went to auction and I actually bought it for $73.00, I still have it today.

I have moved location, built a bigger shed, added a T-shirt printer for an addition service I can supply, I now have reps calling me and dropping in so I must be doing something right.
